The Challenge: Complexity at Scale

Growth brings complexity. With services spanning multiple regions and care models, Home Group needed more than a digital tool — they needed a transformation partner.

Managing disparate systems across Supported Living, Complex Care, and Community Wellbeing had created friction at every level: inconsistent governance, fragmented reporting, and operational silos that made it difficult to get a clear, organisation-wide picture of performance. Home Group needed a single, intelligent platform that could standardise the way care was delivered — without sacrificing the flexibility each service demanded.

The stakes were high. The right solution had to work for everyone: commissioners, care managers, frontline staff, and most importantly, the people receiving care.

"Before implementing DomPortal, we didn't have real time information for Registered Managers and Senior colleagues.  Our team spent time sifting through paper and folders to complete audits as things couldn’t be in one place.  Paperwork constantly being out of date and not review within timescale.  Front line colleagues not always having the most up to date information as this was always in the office or in a handover.  Agency colleagues not being able to access the system meaning perm colleagues had to do all of the paperwork and talk through what the agency colleague needed to do." - - Nicky Barratt | Head of Care| Home Group

The Solution: One Platform. Every Service. No Compromise.

Home Group chose DomPortal — an NHS England-assured digital care platform — to power their entire care operation. Together we built something that truly fits: a single source of truth for care delivery, configured around the way Home Group actually works.

Bespoke from the Ground Up

Rather than forcing Home Group into a generic template,  co-produced and digitised approximately 200 customised assessments — each one aligned to Home Group's existing clinical processes. The result is a digital framework that feels native, not imposed.

Smarter Medication Management

DomPortal's integrated eMAR system brings together stock management, real-time medication auditing, overdose prevention controls, and a live medication dashboard — all enhanced by AI-driven administration guidance sourced directly from the British National Formulary. Safer, more confident medication management, every shift.

Rostering on Autopilot

Manual rota building is a thing of the past. DomPortal's rolling rota feature automatically generates staff schedules based on individual working patterns, freeing up managers to focus on care — not spreadsheets.

A Single View Across Every Service

With all services running on one platform, senior leaders gain a real-time performance overview across the entire organisation. Consistent operating models mean staff can move between services seamlessly, and strategic decisions are backed by live, reliable data — not guesswork.

"Dom Portal has enabled managers and front-line colleagues to spend more time with customers.  Colleagues can see everything in one place so they can be more confident in the information.  Registered Managers can pick up potential incidents and errors from the dashboard so can mitigate and support where needed. In terms of the roll out DomPortal spent time to understand what we really needed from the system, adapting and personalising it to our needs. Post implementation, nothing was ever too much trouble in terms of support from DomPortal for all of Home Group care managers and their teams."  - Nicky Barratt | Head of Care| Home Group

How We Got There: Partnership, Not Just Implementation

DomPortal isn't just software — it's a partnership. The project ran on an Agile delivery model with two-week sprint cycles, keeping the team responsive, focused, and aligned throughout.

Early in the process, DomPortal developed interactive prototypes with Home Group's leadership and frontline teams. Seeing the platform take shape gave stakeholders the confidence to commit — and the feedback made the end product sharper.

"The collaboration during this phase was exceptional—Dom Portal, Care Managers and the support teams worked closely together, tackling any issues swiftly so the launch could proceed seamlessly.

What also made a difference was the genuine team spirit between Dom Portal and Home Group. Everyone remained calm and collaborative, even when faced with unexpected challenges. There was no panicking; instead, we consistently found creative ways to work around problems, always keeping the bigger picture in mind."

- Donna Flynn, Project | Manager | Home Group

What Comes Next

This is a long-term partnership built for the future. Under a 3+1 year contract, Decaura and Home Group are already working on what's next: AI-assisted care assessments that reduce administrative burden and improve outcomes, and full alignment with NHS Minimum Operational Data Standards (MODS) to deepen interoperability across health and social care.

The ambition is clear: a care operation that's smarter, more connected, and more human — powered by DomPortal.

Customer Testimonial

I think the standout feedback is around Dom Portal really wanting to understand what will work for our teams and customers, then adapting the system to meet these needs. Instantly there is increased assurance for senior colleagues.  We have never been able to see a live dashboard with real time information for our services in one place.  At a glance we can see where services are struggling with staffing/visit or task completion so can target support. - Nicky Barratt | Head of Care | Home Group
